Crete

Crete/Heraklion: 40 minutes on Business Jet, 1 hour 05 minutes on Turboprop, 1 hour 25 minutes on Helicopter

Crete lies at the point where the continents of Europe, Asia and Africa meet. It is the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean with an area of 8,335 square kilometres. Heraklion is the largest city, the administrative capital of Crete and has been the home town of some of Greece's most significant spirits, including the novelist Nikos Kazantzakis, the poet and Nobel Prize winner Odysseas Elytis and the world-famous painter Domenicos Theotokopoulos (El Greco).

Tip: Visit the famous archaeological site of Knossos, which is the largest Bronze Age archaeological site on Crete, probably the ceremonial and political centre of the Minoan culture.
